Fluorescent biohazard labels are seen 75% quicker than conventional labels. Made from 2.2 mils thick fluorescent orange cast vinyl, labels are designed for safety and high visibility applications. The high gloss fluorescent finish attracts attention and enhances visibility even when seen against a visually complex background or by a distracted viewer.
The material is flexible for flat or simple curves. Fluorescent labels work by “grabbing wavelength” on either side of the orange spectrum and re-emitting a more concentrated pure orange. They appear to glow, even in the daytime. Labels provide good UV, temperature, humidity, chemical (mild acids, alkalis, and solvents), and salt solution/spray resistance too.
Yes. As per OSHA 1910.1030, a Biohazard sign shall bear the Biohazard symbol (U+2623) along with “Biohazard” wording.
The symbol was designed back in 1966 by Charles Baldwin of Dow Chemicals, who wanted the symbol to be “memorable but meaningless” so that they would educate people as to what it means. This symbol, which is currently used internationally, scored highest among the competing designs. It was, of all the choices, the most unique and memorable.
According to OSHA Standard 1910.1030(g)(1)(ii)(A), the employer shall post Biohazard Signs at the entrance to research laboratories and production facilities or work areas engaged in the culture, production, concentration, experimentation, and manipulation of microbes.
OSHA §1910.145(e)(4) also explains how Biohazard warnings should be posted “to identify equipment, containers, rooms, materials, experimental animals, or combinations thereof, which contain, or are contaminated with Biohazardous agents.
Biosafety levels or BSL determine the protective measures required in a laboratory setting to protect workers, the environment, and the public against infection. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) sets BSL.
Biosafety Level 1 Sign is ideal for marking laboratories that follow Standard Microbiological Practices and require no special equipment or design features.
Moving upwards, Biosafety Level 2 signs are suitable for laboratories that have handwashing sinks, eye washing stations in case of accidents, and doors that automatically close and lock.
Higher Biosafety Levels (Level 3 and Level 4) include specialized controls for laboratories with a very high and life-threatening risk of infections.
Double-sided Print: Projecting Biohazard signs are printed on two sides. Such signs are great for hallways where people are coming from either direction. Signs project from the surface at a right angle, and nobody can miss important information regarding Biohazards printed on these signs.
Angular Visibility: While our flat, one-dimensional signs can be read-only from the front, our Projecting V-signs have a 74° bend for superior visibility. These signs make it really easy to spot “Biohazards” from any angle. V-shaped signs have two flanges and two pre-drilled mounting holes on each flange. Just use some screws to fix the sign on a surface using the drilled holes. If not screws, you can use adhesive tape included in the order.
There are two designs available for the biohazard labels in a dispenser box. The 7/8" x 7/8" fluorescent biohazard paper labels come in a roll of 750 labels in the box while the rectangular 7/8" x 2.875" matte paper labels come in a roll of 500 labels in the box.
The product line is called “Grab-a-Label” because the next available label easily separates from the liner on its own and is ready for application. Inside the compact dispenser, these labels stay neat and clean in an organized way. You can take one label at a time without making a mess that’s usual with long rolls of labels.
